Dark Field
One of my favorite motifs shows individual organisms on black backgrounds, reminiscent of the dark field photographs taken by marine biologists of modern sea creatures. This focuses the viewer on the animals’ anatomy without a distracting background and the lighting accentuates interesting features such as translucency and fine setae (bristles or hairs).
Stylized
While most of my art has a mostly-realistic painterly style, I have experimented with other styles, including abstract color palettes, comicbook-esque lineart, and other techniques.
